Family History | Hugh Nicholls was born in Tottenham, Middx in 1881.
By 1908 he had moved to the Island, and in August of that year he took out a lease for 14 years
on Charles Linden's photographic studio at 113A High Street, Ryde; Charles Linden having decided to sell the property and move to the mainland.
In 1909 Hugh married Lilian Maria Flint (6 years his junior) at St Johns Church, Oakfield, and in 1910 their son Frederick Raymond was born. While Hugh continued to work at the High Street photographic studio until at least 1939, he lived with his family at 7 Bank Place, Ryde. Hugh Nichols died in 1954 at the age of 73 and was buried in Ryde Cemetery, reuniting with his wife Lilian who had died in 1942 at the age of 55. |
