Example of a G & H Ancell's photo dated Xmas 1911.

My thanks to Peter Cave for the above photo.

The photo shows Christ Church PCC and Officers, Sandown.
The lady on the left is Peter's great-grandmother Cave who was the first woman to be elected to the Church Council.
If you recognise anyone else, I'm sure Peter would like to hear from you

An undated postcard by Ancell of Sandown
This photo is of 'The Home of Rest' (later named Winchester House), on the cliff between Shanklin and Sandown. It was built in 1890 by a generous gift from Mrs. Mary Nunn Harvey of the Girls' Friendly Society who is believed to be the lady in the inset photo. There is an account of Mary Harvey (1835-97) at http://woottonbridgeiow.org.uk/harveymn.php.

My thanks to Ann Barrett for the above photo and to Antony Barton (Newport) for the historical notes.
